Hyundai's premium sedan will get a refresh for 2014. We'll meet the revised Equus at the 2013 New York International Auto Show.

Hyundai promises the large sedan will have "more than 30 new and enhanced features" for 2014. Highlights include updated styling, new interior materials and additional safety features.

No word yet on powertrain. The current model uses a 429-horsepower 5.0-liter V-8 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, up from 2011's 385-horsepower 4.6-liter V-8 and six-speed automatic. Hyundai's largest sedan joined the lineup for model-year 2011; it returned unchanged for 2013.

Tuesday Tip: Fix bad weather-stripping immediately!

100_2067

If you’re weather-stripping is letting rainwater leak into the interior of your car, take a look at it and decide if you can repair it or if it needs to be replaced. Small leaks can be handled with brush-on seam sealers. Re-secure loose sections, not otherwise damaged, with trim adhesive. Torn sections may be repaired with special caulking available at auto parts stores. You may also be able to extend the life of worn-but-intact sections by inserting foam rods, available at automotive stores, into the hollow section of the weather-stripping. If you decide to replace entire sections of gasket, don’t simply buy generic stuff such as you’d use around the house. Buy a product that matches your car’s original weather-stripping — it’s available in a wide variety of profiles from dealerships and automotive mail-order catalogues.

Hyundai Announces Winners of “Center Stage Powered by Grammy Amplifier”!

2ec541e6d-e490-bb03-7c6cfa720e56c519

Hyundai today announced the winners from its “Center Stage Powered By GRAMMY Amplifier” program at the Sound Cloud Event in Austin, Texas. Gentlemen Hall, Phillip Magnus Hartley and Barnaby Saints will each receive one of the following: a recording session with a leading GRAMMY producer, production of a music video with a noted producer and/or director, or an opening act performance slot on a major tour or music festival. Additionally, an online video series documenting each of the recording artists’ mentoring experiences will be produced for the GRAMMY website and launched later this year.

“Center Stage” is part of Hyundai’s multi-year partnership as the “Official Vehicle Partner” of the GRAMMY Awards. Hyundai teamed with The Recording Academy this year to create an innovative online platform designed to provide professional mentoring and exposure for artists discovered and amplified through the GRAMMY’s innovative GRAMMY Amplifier program.

Mike Shinoda, member of two-time GRAMMY winning band Linkin Park, served as curator for “Center Stage,” which was developed based on the success of GRAMMY Amplifier. Launched by The Recording Academy in January, GRAMMY Amplifier allows musicians to share their tracks via SoundCloud for a chance to have their music shared online by a panel of musical icons.

“Hyundai would like to thank everyone who participated in the initial launch of the ‘Center Stage’ program,” said Steve Shannon, vice president, marketing, Hyundai Motor America. “We can’t wait for the world to enjoy the great music of Gentlemen Hall, Phillip Magnus Hartley and Barnaby Saints and we look forward to following them on their musical journeys.”

Barnaby Saints is a Los Angeles-based band, started by singer/songwriter Erich Lennig. The band has been described as a mixture of bluegrass, gospel, indie rock and layered harmonies. Their songs fuse old folk story telling with lush vocals, banjo, fiddle, dobro and swelling B3 organ to create a unique soundscape.

Gentlemen Hall’s music is a combination of the high-handed anthemic choruses of the Killers, the retro synth melodies of MGMT, and a dash of wildman flutist antics. Hailing from Boston, the six members of Gentleman Hall are currently finishing their full length album which is due out in 2013.

Phillip Magnus Hartley is a hybrid artist from Baltimore. He is influenced by all genres of music, drawing inspiration from Janelle Monae, Brandy, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Prince, and Kenna. Hartley combines street style art with the fine arts, creating a unique style and a unique sound.

Hyundai Motor America Reports Best-Ever February Sales!

2011_hyundai_elantra_fr_new3-thumb-530x305-11385

Hyundai Motor America announced an all-time February sales record of 52,311 units; up two percent over last year’s all-time record February and up a similar amount for the year.

“February was another record month for Hyundai – we had a terrific President’s Day weekend event to kick off the spring selling season, much improved inventory levels, and great access to credit available to a broader band of buyers,” said Dave Zuchowski, executive vice president of sales. “Our performance was led by the all-new Santa Fe Sport and the award winning Elantra, both of which saw double-digit sales gains over 2012.”

The all-new Santa Fe saw a huge 64 percent increase over the same period last year and is up 42 percent year-to-date. The Elantra, which was recognized as a “top car pick” as best budget car by a highly regarded consumer magazine earlier this week, posted year-over-year gains for February of 17 percent and is up 15 percent for the year. Sales to rental accounts and government agencies accounted for 15 percent of the February volume.

Hyundai Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicles also recorded a best-ever volume month with 5,627 sales, up nine percent versus 2012. Full year CPO volume of 11,020 units is up 12 percent versus 2012.

“Our biggest-ever Super Bowl and Academy Awards presence drove great interest in the Hyundai brand, especially the all-new Santa Fe. The all-new seven-passenger version of the Santa Fe will begin hitting showrooms shortly after our media introduction this month, adding to the strength of our crossover line-up,” said John Krafcik, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America. Santa Fe was recently recognized by U.S. News and World Report as the “Best 3-Row Midsize SUV for the Money.”
